Jen first came to our studio 3 years ago, when she was 25 years old. At 20 years old she found out that she has MS. Her condition slowly deteriorated and she stopped looking after herself. She had no energy and lives daily with chronic pain in her body. People around Jen often treated her as incapable and disabled so would do most tasks for her, which dis-empowered her and slowly eroding her independence. She became lazy and slowly giving up as time was passing. This created negative energy and a feeling of giving up on life. Jen’s Goal to walk again without using the wheelchair or walking sticks, to feel better about herself and learn to love to exercise again, as stopped when she gave up on herself.
Jen came to Vibes Fitness and we created a detailed personal plan to assist her in achieving her goals. We utilised some of the machines in our studio, worked on building strength with weights, posture and core is paramount. We also did lots of AntiGravity yoga, projecting strength, energy, and positive vibes into her life body and soul. This may sound like a simple concept in thinking positive thoughts but it can be difficult for some especially when there are internal voices inside their heads which are negative. This was the case for Jen. We combined physical work with N.L.P to help shift the change needed. We assisted Jen by the first step which is to observe and find what was blocking the emotions in the body and then reprogram the negative behaviours, limiting thoughts and beliefs. Jen disliked her body because it had let her down, and she had become disconnected from it.
Instead of attending to her own needs, she shifted her focus away from herself to helping others with their problems and most of her energy went to giving to everyone else and not herself. If Jen ever wanted to walk again without aids or her wheelchair she has to become re-connected to her body inside and out and give herself all the energy, focus and love that she and her body deserves. It was now time for Jen to look after Jen.
When we started work with Jen, we noticed that her breath was very shallow and that she wasn’t allowing enough oxygen into her body, therefore, limiting her energy. Without breathing properly, the blood vessels in her arms and legs couldn’t get a sufficient blood supply.
Our solution was to teach Jen about deep breathing exercises. Just after a few months of focusing on this and attending Vibes Fitness on a regular basis, Jen had noticed the difference after just a few months. Jen also then realised how much energy she had given to her friends and how much of a sense of responsibility she had felt for all of them instead of herself. Once Jen had realised how much she had been neglecting herself, she felt free in her body, mind, and life. She began to really focus on changing herself, her life and her body, mind inside and out. At Vibes Fitness we also worked on getting Jen back to the instinct of walking, rather than having to think about it so we taught her how to talk to her body and connection to the inside and out.
Jen still had a lot of repressed anger toward herself because she had MS so we did Parts Integration Work which really helps Jen.
This was the beginning of an entirely new life for Jen as she has stopped running away and finally started connecting with her true self and her purpose! All the rehab and strength and conditioning exercises have changed and improved Jen’s mind, body, and soul. She especially loves AntiGravity yoga and the deep tissue exercises because she finds after each session her body is not as stiff or rigid and is often pain-free for days due to the workouts and mindset.
Her favourite poses are the vampire, and Superman pose as she can feel her whole spine strengthen and stretching and knows that this, is what she needs. Jen is now connected to her body inside and out as is looking forward to the possibility of being free from using walking aids and her wheelchair.
